CHRIS

IS THE MAIN EVENT UFC TITLE BOUT
On
This Weekends
UFC 178!
BUT HE'S NOT THE ONLY IKF CHAMPION...
 CURRENT ISCF BANTAMWEIGHT
PRO WORLD CHAMPION Chris "Kamikaze"
Cariaso San Francisco, California, USA

It's hasn't been uncommon to see IKF
and ISCF Champions who made a name for
themselves appearing on the big stage promotions of the World. There are those
who few knew such as Cariaso and Thompson who one day brought home some IKF Gold and within a blink of an eye, they were the
focus of fight fans around the world on some of the biggest stages of the world.
As an example, just this past summer on June 21st, 2014 in
Inglewood, California, USA, the Mega Kickboxing Promotion known as Glory
came to California and hosted their GLORY 17, "LAST MAN STANDING"
event. The event was regulated by the IKF
and of course the California State Athletic Commission. The event featured
former 2009 IKF World Classic Champion,
Joseph
Valtellini of Scarboraugh, Ontario, Canada fighting for the Glory
Welterweight title. In the end, Valtellini defeated Marc de Bonte
by unanimous decision to become the new Glory Champion.
Valtellini isn't the only Amateur or Pro Fighter who
took home IKF Gold on his way to the top.
MANY more can be found among the results of the past
IKF Tournaments as well on the
Past
IKF Champions Pages or in the
as the IKF World Rankings.
And don't forget the ISCF Champions that be seen on the
Past ISCF
MMA Champions page or if still active, in the
ISCF
MMA Rankings.
This Saturday night, we will get to see two fighters in
action who together took home plenty of gold, and some of their Gold just so
happens to be from the IKF and the ISCF.
At this Saturday's UFC 178
in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Main Event will feature Number 1 ISCF MMA Ranked
and current UFC Champion Demetrious Johnson of Kirkland, Washington, USA
(20-2-1) take on current ISCF Pro
MMA Bantamweight world champion Chris "Kamikaze" Cariaso of
San Francisco, California, USA. (
17-5, KB/MT: 17-3/2, TRAINER: Bunkerd Faphiamai, Fight and Fitness)
Chris won his ISCF
MMA World Title on October 24th, 2009 in Richmond, California, USA on the
Paco/LTD Productions' "RUMBLE IN RICHMOND" event when he
defeated Rolando Velasco by TKO at 3:17 of round 2 due to strikes.
However, that's not the only Gold Chris took home
from under the umbrella of International Fight Sports.

Prior to becoming a Pro MMA fighter Chris also won
the IKF Amateur San Shou Rules United
States Super Lightweight title when he defeated Ed Carpio of San Jose,
California by Split Decision on July 24th, 2004 in San Jose, California.
This will be the first time an "ISCF"
World Champion has fought for a Major MMA Promotions title and since it's a UFC
Title, it just doesn't get any bigger than that. However, Chris is not
the only IKF Champion fighting on a UFC
event or fighting for a UFC Title. Both Chuck Liddell (IKF
Amateur USA Champion) and Cung Le (IKF Pro World Champion)
have not only done so, but as everyone knows, won their titles and went on to be
major stars in the fight world.
But Wait.. THERE'S MORE...
On that same UFC 178
fight card we will also get to see multiple time IKF
Champion Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson of
Simpsonville, South Carolina, USA (9-1, Pro KB: 12-0/7, Pro Team: 6-0/3,
AKB: 33-0/18) take on Patrick Cote (20-8) in Thompson's
3rd UFC appearance. Thompson went through his entire Amateur and
Pro Kickboxing career undefeated, and might still be if not for the work of
another ISCF Pro MMA Champion, Matt "The
Immortal" Brown of Xenia, Ohio, USA (P: 18-11, A: 2-0)
Prior to meeting up with Thompson, Brown won
his ISCF Pro East Coast Welterweight Title
over current Bellator Welterweight Champion Douglas Lima by
referee stoppage due to strikes at 2:50 of the second round on February 9th,
2007 in Kennesaw, (Atlanta) Georgia, USA.
Brown and Thompson met up on UFC 145 on April 21st, 2012. After the smoke cleared
after 3 rounds, Brown won the judges over with a unanimous decision
victory. It was Thompson's first loss of his fighting career.
Since then, Thompson has come back with three
straight wins in the UFC Octagon. After Brown he came back and
defeated Nah-Shon Burrell at UFC 160 on May 25th, 2013 by
unanimous decision. He next defeated Chris Clements at UFC 165
last year on September 21st, 2013 by TKO at 1:27 of round 2. And then he
defeated Robert Whittaker at UFC 170 this past February 22nd,
2014 by TKO at 3:43 of round 1. To say he's on a mission to re-gain his familiar
top ranking position is an understatement.
However Brown hasn't been quiet either. Since
defeating Thompson he's rattled off 6 straight UFC wins before
being beat by Robbie Lawler at UFC on Fox 12 on July 26, 2014.
Needless to say, Thompson is eager to get back in the
cage yet again and more eager to hit someone in the face... But will it be with
his hands which have been a major weapon of choice in most of his MMA fights, or
by one of his devastating head kicks that made him a World Champion in
Kickboxing and also took him to an impressive Head Kick KO Victory in his UFC
debut, who knows.
All we can say is us IKF
and ISCF Fight fans will have plenty to
root for this Saturday night. Of course we're hoping for big wins for both Cariaso
and Thompson. However, just getting to where they are in their fight
careers is alone something we are proud of them accomplishing. We're just
blessed to have wrapped some IKF and ISCF Gold around these athletes along the way.
Good Luck This Weekend Gentlemen... We'll
be Watching... |

185) by punch KO at :51 seconds of round 1.
- The former ISCF Amateur West Coast

times in his 11 amateur bouts, by KO! Hernandez' hadn't fought since May
of 2013 but didn't look like he's been out of the cage that long taking care of

(Sacramento, California, USA, 5-1, A: 3-0, 5'11", Team Alpha Male)
by unanimous decision, 29-28 on all 3 judges cards.
- The matchmakers at WFC made
sure Smith had a legit challenge on only his 2nd Pro MMA bout. Both Soto
and Smith came into the bout undefeated, but it would be Smith
staying more in control and keeping more active of the bout. In doing so, he
made sure Soto left the cage as he had never done before... On the
losing end for the first time in his fight career.

Emmett (Sacramento, CA, USA, 6-0, 155) defeated Tony "El

- Emmett has always been an ISCF Favorite since the first
time we saw him fight. A Chiseled ROCK with a graceful content, Emmett
could have a bright future ahead of him. A little work on his stand-up game in
regards to timing and distance with his punches and he would be complete as a
well rounded War Machine. Oh and nice flip at the end Josh...

30-27.
- Well it wasn't his best performance, but The Golden Boy chalks up
another win. He's still one of our favorite fighters here and he continues to be
relentless when it appears he's in any kind of potential trouble. No matter what
kind of submission his opponent attempts on him, he somehow finds a way out of
it. Lopez improves to 2-0 as a Pro fighter now... Who's Next!

"The Kid" Labiano (Defending Champion, California,
USA, 7-1, 135 ) defeated
Tyson Nam (Challenger, Oregon via Hawaii, USA, 12-7, 135) by
unanimous decision, 48-47, 48-46 & 48-46.
- Judge Wade Vierra: 48-47
- Judge Brandon Saucedo: 48-46
- Judge Susan Thomas-Gitlin: 48-46
- It has to be said that in all the fights we've seen, we actually thought we
were seeing a fighter get beat to death in the cage.
In round 2, Tyson
Nam turned what had been up to this point, a slow and uneventful fight into
a massive "ONE WAY" Slugfest! Nam dropped Labiano with
a punch and then proceeded to slam his fist into Labiano's face at least
a dozen times as Labiano laid senseless on his back. Every official at
ringside seemed to be asking the same thing, "WHY isn't the referee
stopping this!? He's gunna Kill Him!"
After punch after punch the
referee finally moved over to where he could get a better view of the impact,
and even from there, proceeded to watch Nam slam his fist into Labiano's
face several more times. Even Nam seemed shocked the referee was just
allowing him to slam his fist into Labiano over and over again. This
bout should have been over! Labiano's face looked like it had a quick
date with a meat grinder and his eyes told the clear story here... "Where
the hell am I?"
Sadly for Nam, even after Labiano
got up off his back, the referee continued to allow Nam to slam his fist
into Labiano over and over again. To ANYONE and EVERYONE
watching (Except the referee) Labiano was TOTALLY lost
and out of it.
The round came to an end, and Nam never went back on
the attack again. The remaining 3 rounds were as the first... Labiano
not seeming to "WANT" to do enough to keep his WFC Title. However, these rounds also saw Nam
not doing enough to take it from him. In the end the Champion retained his
title... With an "*" for round 2...

PRO Middleweight MMA Title Fight
David
Mitchell (Sacramento, California, USA, 15-4, 185, 6') defeated Matt
Major (San Jose, California, USA, 6-4, 185) by tapout at 4:47 of
round 1 by Guillotine choke.
- Look, we don't want to bag on either fighter here but sometimes you just
have to call a fight what it is... Which was without a doubt, by far, one of the
most boring, non eventful fights we have ever seen!!
Ya, go ahead, we're
sure someone isn't going to be happy with us for saying that but if you don't
like what we're about to say here, well... Consider our suggestion at the end.
At
the opening bell, Mitchell ran across the cage and grabbed Major's
around the waist... That was pretty much the extent of the much desired "Explosive"
action expected on any main event bout.
Mitchell ended the rollfest
when Major (WHO is Major?) tapped out from a Guillotine choke at
4:47 of round 1. When the end came, a handful of Mitchell fans still
remaining in the building cheered as if he just won the Ultimate MMA
title against someone like Chris Weidman. But this wasn't against Chris
Weidman, it was Matt Major. Who? Major had not fought since
Brett Cooper stopped him by TKO at 1:27 of round 2 in Bellator 29
back in Milwaukee, Wisconsin way back on September 16th, 2010. Yes... 2010, over
4 years ago... Hardly a legit contender for a Main event, let alone a Title
Fight. Prior to that bout, Major had lost to Alexander Shlemenko
on Bellator in Kansas City, Missouri by unanimous decision back on April
29th, 2010... You have to go all the way back to June of 2009 to find Major's
last win. It was on some low level pro show called Disturbing the Peace
in Fresno, California where he defeated a then 5-7, Marcus Gaines (Who
today is 11-24) by split decision. We felt bad for the WFC Promoters who were surly hoping for a much more
exciting Main event to end the night. Maybe next time these fighters are booked
for a "MAIN EVENT" on ANY show they will put out a better
performance for the fight fans who paid big $$ to see what they were expecting
to be "The BEST Fight of the night!"
- We were told after the fight by someone associated to Mitchell that
he was taking it easy because he is scheduled to fight October 3rd in Tulsa,
Oklahoma, on an event called Battlegrounds MMA 5. The tournament style
event pays $50,000 to the winner... So no wonder he didn't want to keep this
fight as a stand-up striking affair. Hearing this, we thought Mitchell
would have made everyone happier if he just didn't fight and let pretty much
ANY of the previous fights be the "MAIN EVENT."
Congrats the the Team at West Coast Fighting
Championships on yet another great event. We're already looking
forward to the next one.

You Can't Always Be FIRST...
But
You Can Be NEXT...
We here at the ISCF (International
Sport Combat Federation) get a little tired of the MMA Media when it doesn't
put a better effort into researching the facts before they start making claims
of things. There are so many MMA reporters out there who keep making claims
about who was first here and there, on this and that in the sport of Mixed
Martial Arts, and if they took a few seconds to do their research homework, they
would find out they would be wrong when making some of these "First"
reports.
There are many of these claims out there. Various individuals wanting to
take credit for this and for that when in reality, they were simply "Followers"
to what the ISCF had already established.
One of those claims is about a certain sanctioning body (International
Mixed Martial Arts Federation) who was founded in 2012, 13 years after the
ISCF was founded claiming to be the first
Global Sanctioning Body for MMA and that everyone should support them. However,
the truth is, this organization is actually the UFC's own Amateur
organization and it plays an integral role in the UFC's plan to take
over the Amateur MMA Market... Say WHAT???
They have also made claims they hosted the first ever MMA World
Championships along with many other "Claims" of "Firsts"
in the world of MMA.
To set the facts straight, the ISCF
was the FIRST EVER SANCTIONING BODY For MMA "MIXED MARTIAL ARTS"
Worldwide! (For The ISCF
History Click Here.) Not that this matters today or makes the
ISCF any better than any other sanctioning
body based solely on this accomplishment. However, it would just be nice if
others out there in the MMA Media would acknowledge this rather than continue to
give others credit for it...
To add, the ISCF was also the first to
ever host an "Open Amateur World MMA Tournament", the
ISCF
World Classic. In fact, the ISCF
hosted THREE of these tournaments in (2007, 08 & 09). And to say again, not that this
matters today or makes the ISCF better
than any other sanctioning body based solely on this accomplishment, it would
just be nice if others out there in the MMA Media would acknowledge this rather
than continue to give others credit for it...
Prior to the ISCF, there were
regulatory bodies for related sports such as Pankration & Shootfighting
to name a few, but none existed solely for "Mixed Martial Arts"
until the ISCF was founded in 1992. There
is a claim out there on wikapedia that the Iowa Athletic Commission was
the first to ever officially sanction an MMA event. However, this claim is just
a joke. Iowa was one of the first states to allow MMA to happen, simply because
they didn't really know what it was and like most states at the time, had no
desire to regulate it. However the state commission did not "Regulate"
the sport until well after 2000. In fact, as many will tell you, Iowa was one of
those states known as the "Wild West" for MMA events. Pros
were fighting as amateurs. Rules were rarely followed, and promoters basically
did as they desired... This is sadly one of those times wikapedia and
their editors got it WAY wrong...
The ISCF was the first to see a need
to oversee the rules and regulations of not just an MMA bout but an entire MMA
event from a neutral sanctioning/regulatory body rather than allowing Promoters
to appoint their own friends and family to be officials for their own events.
Because the ISCF was the first in this
field, the ISCF also has a TON of other "Firsts"
that for whatever reasons (Be it others ego, jealousy, whatever) are not
given credit by the MMA media.
Various "Firsts" from the ISCF
have been things such as the first sanctioning body to form actual fighter
rankings for both Amateur and Pro Fighters (CLICK HERE) To the first to actually put
into writing that Direct Kicks to the Front of an opponents Knees are an Illegal
Technique (CLICK HERE)
The most recent rant by the MMA Media is that Wyoming finally had their
first "Sanctioned" MMA event. Well, to help those reporters
out who choose not to do their homework even though the internet now makes such
work SUPER EASY, the "FIRST SANCTIONED" MMA event in Wyoming
was actually sanctioned by the ISCF in
2009. Chin Chek Productions' "The Battle For Laramie II" was held on
May 2nd, 2009 in Laramie, Wyoming and was sanctioned by the ISCF. The event also included an ISCF Amateur MMA Welterweight State Title Bout. To
see this event listed on the Official MMA Database click
HERE
That's all... This just needed to be said...
