   • From the opening bell, this was Wedderburn's bout... However, in the end, it would be Wedderburn himself who cost himself the victory... Wedderburn was well ahead on the scorecards and could of... SHOULD of easily stopped Cepeda earlier in round 3. However, he kept easing off and choose not to finish the bout. His hesitence cost him in the end when out of no where, Cepeda landad a right and that dropped Wedderburn. Referee Jerin Valel pushed Cepeda away from Wedderburn to start the count, however, if the timekeeper would have been signaling the count correctly, Wedderburn would have been counted out. Instead he was awarded by mistake a few more seconds that allowed him to stand up. When the referee asked him if he could continue, Wedderburn turned his back on the referee and wouldn't turn back around. This gave the referee no choice but to waive the bout off. Basically, even though he seemingly beat the count, Wedderburn cost himself by not obeying the referee. When the referee waived it off, Wedderburn still seemed a bit dazed as he stumbled to the next ring corner. A note to all fighters... "OBEY THE REFEREES COMMANDS AT ALL TIMES"... Otherwise, as did Wedderburn, you give the referee no choice but to believe you were done fighting.

    • As many reading this are aware, Zuniga's origional opponent was Cyrus Washington of Chicago, Illinois. However, due to a legal issue (pending charges) Washington was refused entree into Canada on Thursday of this week. Odly enough, Choplin was in the USA training and through some connections the promoters were able to fly him in as a late replacement. This of course changed Zuniga's game plan and was now faced with a much stronger opponent. For Choplin the circumstances highly favored him, despite his incredible talent. Taking the bout on such short notice meant he had everything to gain and nothing to lose while Zuniga was faced with the pressure of having to adapt a well trained game plan previously meant for Washington. Sadly for the hometown Zuniga he never seemed in this bout. He was dropped by Choplin at the end of round 1 and just never seemed in tune while Choplin seemed as relaxed as ever.
      
      
    • (*) As noted previously, this was to be for the IKF "NORTH AMERICAN" Title. However, once Choplin of "France" replaced Washington of the USA, it was no longer a bout with fighters living within the boundries of North America. Because of this, the title has been changed to the IKF Pro Full Muay Thai Rules Intercontinental Title.

Canadian Fighting Championship's
Announces September 10th Lineup of Fights

Former IKF Pro Muay Thai World Champion Giuseppe DeNatale and his Canadian Fighting Championship's Promotional Team are all set to host CFC 7 this Saturday night, September 10th at the Winnipeg Convention Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

The fight card is now official for this spectacular night of combat as Canadian Fighting Championship's will once again showcase Manitoba's best fighters and best fight promotion!

Main eventing the evening will be Winnipeg's 'Dangerous' Dave Zuniga in a championship fight. After sharpening his Muay Thai game in Thailand, Zuniga returns to fight in front of his home audience for the first time in two years. Zuniga will face Detroit's Cyrus Washington for the IKF Pro "FULL RULES" Muay Thai North American Middleweight title.

Who is the best Manitoban MMA fighter in the Welterweight division? The CFC 7 semi-main event will answer this question as the ultra-tough Chris Stranger from Peguis, Manitoba will take on the technically superior Lindsey Hawkes.

In other MMA action, a Winnipeg fighter will look to stay unbeaten in Canadian Fighting Championship competition. Eric Perez, 5-0 in the CFC, will face Tony Bibby in hopes to remain unbeaten. Perez always brings fans to their feet with his electrifying performances at the Winnipeg Convention Centre. This promises to be another stand up war and one of Perez' stiffest tests to date.

In addition to those three great fights, fans can witness former IKF Muay Thai World Champion Duke Roufus' protege Sergio Pettis' professional MMA debut. Roufus was voted trainer of the year in 2010 and Sergio is one of his top students. Sergio is the brother of former WEC champion Anthony "Showtime" Pettis and will follow in his brother's MMA footsteps in the CFC ring on September 10th. Both Anthony Pettis and Duke Roufus will be in attendance for Sergio's first pro fight.

Fans can pick up tickets from canadianfighting.com/tickets, but you better do it soon. Table tickets are being snapped up, but there are still general admission seats available for $25. Remember that fans 16 and older can attend. The card will be a mix of Muay Thai and MMA. It will also feature professional and amateur fights. Fans can watch the Amateur fights starting at 4:PM and the main card featuring 11 professional fights will commence at 8:PM.

Other Manitoba fighters scheduled to appear include Serge Rochon, Dwight Sutherland, Luis Cepeda, Mark Durant, Travis Gervais, David Quangvan, Jon Henderson, and Kyle Oliveira.
