MORE ON NEW YORK MMA...

New York's Bob Reilly Exposed
Posted on February 16, 2011 by SRJ

New York Assemblyman Bob Reilly, (R) who at this point (unfortunately) needs no introduction, has been the most visible nay-sayer of MMA in New York. Although Reilly has exposed his lack of knowledge on the sport through various interviews and commentary, he remains at the forefront of opposition. His poorly appointed rationale has led many in the MMA community to question his political motives.

In a recent interview on Pro MMA Radio, host Larry Pepe did a tremendous job of systematically defeating Reilly's limp-wristed arguments. Then, to top things off, Pepe unveiled Reilly's relationship with one of his major campaign contributors, a hotel workers' union called Unite Here (www.unitehere.org) Logically, MMA events would bolster local hotel occupancy and revenue, which translates into jobs for hotel workers. Therefore, it would be in the union's best interest to support MMA. However, Unite Here happens to be the only entity lobbying against MMA in New York.

Needless to say, there is more to the story.
Why has Unite Here gone out of its way, and against the best interests of its members, to lobby against MMA? As it turns out, Unite Here has a history of conflict with Station Casinos, a Las Vegas casino chain owned by the Fertitta brothers. The Fertittas also own the UFC…

It is now clear that Unite Here has waged war against MMA in order to retaliate against the Fertitta brothers for a conflict completely unrelated to MMA and New York. In doing so, Unite Here has funded Bob Reilly's campaigns to promote their anti-MMA agenda in hopes of pressuring the Fertittas to unionize Station Casino workers. Reilly has stated that he will likely not change his stance on MMA, regardless of the wishes of his constituents and fellow assemblymen. Now we know why. His pockets are lined to guarantee his loyalty to the business interests of Unite Here, not the interests of the New Yorkers he claims to represent.

NOT AN ISCF EVENT!
SOMEONE HAS BEEN CAUGHT IN A LIE... AND WILL PAY FOR IT!

Yesterday and today we were sent some e-mails inquiring about what some individuals had been told was an ISCF Sanctioned Event scheduled for this past weekend that was cancelled. However, there are several things that make this issue quite funny. To begin with was the ticket itself which listed February 11th as a "WEDNESDAY" when it's actually a Saturday... Or at least this year it was... From what we were told, someone "Claiming" to be an MMA fight Promoter ( The name given was Joe Siliana -Of which no one associated with anything MMA exists in any Google search ) had sold some tickets (See the photo of one of the tickets above) with the ISCF logo on it, but the wrong web address. The ticket showed our web address as ISCF.com, however, the ISCF web address is ISCFMMA.com.

The phone number on the ticket reads 773-458-8299. However the phone is a disconnected number. Some people who received these tickets contacted us to inquire about this claimed event, which by the way, was never sanctioned with the ISCF. The event was suppose to take place in Chicago, Illinois at The Lasalle Theater on 400 E Randolph St, Chicago, Illinois. Well... needless to say, the event never took place... So now, the first legal issues is, "Who bought any of these tickets to this event?"

The main event was to be between 2 fighters named... Get this... The Assassin Davis vs The Bull McGee. Gee, sounds like some names from a backyeard Big Time Wrestling event... The Co-main event was to be two fighters named Steve "The Chief" Pusateri vs Brian "The Stopper" Hines.

Checking the Official MMA database, there is no such fighter named Steve Pusateri or any such fighter named Brian Hines. However, here's where the story takes a turn...

Oddly, one of the first people to tip us off on this was Steve Pusateri (Right). Pusateri sent us an e-mail first asking, (Sent in exact writing) "I had someone tell us we can register with them and could fight on their fight card here in Chicago. Gave us tickets to sell and took our money. I have someone that has talked to the person to get our money back. I was wondering how to go about letting you know they use ur logo. Im in the chicago area. Please let me know what u would like for me to do."

His first e-mail was followed up with a few others, still inquiring about the event. Oddly again, it wasn't long after when we were contacted by some others who claimed they got tickets from Pusateri. Adding to this, he had informed them that he was in discussions with us here at the ISCF and that "WE" had informed him that "WE" would assist in the rescheduling of this event for St. Patty's day weekend... However, NO SUCH CONVERSATION TOOK PLACE!

After hearing about this, we wanted to find out who Steve Pusateri is. On his Facebook page he claims to be employed by a company named "Chicago Ultimate Training Services" ( C.U.T.S.) located at 21W500 North Ave, Lombard, Illinois. We later found out that the gym was opened in a bad area of Chicago and was only in business for about 4 months. Listed by the gym name of his Facebook page are 4 web addresses for it, each with a different "Dot" address at the end of them, ChicagoUltimateTrainingServices.com, .net, .org and .info... NONE of them exist. Also listed is a phone number of (630) 373-2887. So of course, we called it and it too was a disconnected number...

On January 27th Pusateri posted on his Facebook page that he had tickets for this so called event to sell to people for $35.00 each. When a scan was done of the barcode that was on the tickets, the scan came up as an Amazon book, not a ticket to a fight event. From our investigation, Pusateri hasn't even trained in Martial Arts let alone be a fighter.

In one of his e-mails to us here at the ISCF, Pusateri said "Also the fights were suppose to happen yesterday at a building that is no longer there." Well, the Lasalle Theater is still there, it's just that the address on the ticket Pusateri informed us about was wrong. Just wondering, who accepts a fight and never confirms where the fight is taking place... Just wondering...

So, if you happen to have purchased one of the tickets above, please let us know so we can include you in the ISCF's legal investigation. In the end, it looks pretty clear that "Someone is going to Jail..." Please shoot our legal team an e-mail at: ISCFLegal@iscfmma.com - we look forward to hearing from you.

Stephen Thompson
Moving On To UFC 145 In Atlanta

Stephen Thompson Vs. Matt Brown - UFC 145, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

Former IKF Champion and now pro MMA fighter Stephen Thompson (Right) already has an invitation back to the UFC Fight Stage. Thompson will almost be fighting in his backyard as he takes on Matt Brown at UFC 145 in April in Atlanta, Georgia. As many here know, Thompson made his UFC debut a little over a week ago, knocking out Dan Stittgen with a head kick in round 1. The win improved his MMA record to 6-0, 1-0 in the UFC.

The critics are already at it on various MMA news pages claiming Thompson had it easy in his win over Dan Stittgen. Writers are already making it clear that Thompson will face a much more experienced fighter in Brown (13-11, 6-5 UFC) who defeated Chris Cope (5-3) by second round TKO on the same night Thompson made his debut.

However Brown has went 2-4 on his last 6 events dating back to March of 2010. He went winless in 2010 losing all 3 bouts by submission. He stayed out of the cage from November 2010 till June 2011 when he came back and defeated John Howard by decision, only to turn around in November of 2011 and lose to Seth Baczynski by submission.

The articles out in the MMA world are claiming that Thompson will most likely want to keep the fight standing, feeling he's "Just a kickboxer with no ground game." Thompson though is eager to show the MMA World his ground game if need be, but the truth is, if he doesn't have to, "Why go to the ground?" Besides, it's VERY CLEAR to everyone watching MMA today that the "Stand-up" portion of the sport is what's exciting the crowds. This is most likely why Kickboxing and Muay Thai events are showing larger crowds then 5-10 years ago. The question is, "WHEN will TV take notice and get Kickboxing and Muay Thai on main stream TV?"

The comments of Thompson's critics are nothing new and almost expected by those who don't know him. As with anyone, those who don't know Thompson and doubt him are the first to say Stittgen was not that good, and will also be the first to say neither is Brown if Thompson comes away victorious. Sadly, we live in a world of "Negative news gets more read than positive." Because of this, there will be those who want to jump on Thompson and say he's not all that, etc... We have watched Thompson since 2000. We have seen him grow up, not only as a fighter but as a bright, respectful and honorable young man. If or when the times comes that Thompson is on the losing end one day, you won't hear excuses, cries, etc.. "You will hear a man simply admit, his opponent was better on this day or night, but another day will come, and it will be my day..." to Thompson's critics, an answer like that is like smiling at a person who curses you out to your face and then just walking away... and that alone will be yet another victory for the "Wonderboy!"

Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson
Says Hello To The UFC
In The Best Way Possible!
A Right (FRONT LEG) Roundkick
KNOCKOUT
Of Daniel Stittgen At
UFC 143

Seem like you viewers here were not the only ones reading the opening line in last months Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson, article, but for those who missed it, it read: "Abraham Lincoln once said, "I will prepare and some day my chance will come."...

Well, for former IKF (International Kickboxing Federation) World Champion and multi time IKF Tournament Champion (Among MANY other Kickboxing Titles) Stephen "Wonderboy" Thompson, that time was this past Saturday afternoon at UFC 143!

Thompson of Simpsonville, South Carolina, USA made sure he would not be forgotten as just another UFC debut fighter that simply won his bout and moved on. For over 4 minutes of the first round, it appeared Thompson was never even touched by his opponent, 31 year old Daniel Stittgen (7-2 Pro, 2-0 Amateur MMA) of Schaumburg, Illinois as Thompson seemed to land his strikes at will. Just after the 4 minute mark of round 1, Thompson picked up his "Front" Right Leg and slapped Stittgen across the neck and jaw (1) (2) and dropped him like rock. Referee Josh Rosenthal was quick to stop Thompson from moving in and good thing he did as Stittgen was OUT COLD at 4:13 of round 1.

The win brings Thompson's Pro MMA record now to a PERFECT 6-0. which when added to his kickboxing record of 51-0 brings him to a perfect 57-0*.

According to Fightcove.com, Thompson's purse was $12,000 (Includes $6,000 win bonus) and he also received , also received a $65,000 bonus for "Knockout of the Night". Fabricio Werdum, Roy Nelson and Dustin Poirier also took home an additional $65,000 in the form of post-fight bonuses at UFC 143. Dustin Poirier for submission of the night, and Fabricio Werdum and Roy Nelson for "Fight of the Night".

It was first reported that Thompson was to face Ultimate Fighter' competitor Justin Edwards. However on January 19th, Thompson's opponent changed to Daniel Stittgen instead of Justin Edwards. The reason for the switch was and is still unknown. Thompson amassed an incredible 57-0 record as a kickboxer with 40 knockouts to his credit, but a knee injury forced him to the sidelines and that's where his attention turned to MMA.
