I'm a huge fan of both, but see this as a bad match-up for Chatt..

Is that a statement saying you want Chatt to ask for Kevin to fight or did you mean Chatt Lavender "asked" for Kevin.
Agree with Metcalf not a good match up. Last edited by Cliff Fretwell : 06-05-2006 at 08:43 PM. |

It could be a good fight. Kevin is a good wrestler, so is Chatt. They both like to swing. They both come in ready. Id give it a 50/50 toss up. Its really up to who wants it more that night. Good luck to both fighters.

How big is Chatt? I thought he was a hell of a lot bigger than Kevin.

Chatt is a definate game opponent for sure I just think its a good style match up for Kevin. I'd def like to see this fight happen but I don't know if it will be on this event, but I'm not Kevin or Chatt's manager so I'll just wait to see what happens.

Chatt asked us to try to get Kevin for the August 19th show. We have not heard from Kevin or his camp yet.

This possible mach up was brought to my attention about 3 weeks ago by a local promoter through a friend of Chatts.
I think this is a great match up. This has the potential to be a very competitive and entertaining fight that is winnable by either contestant. Chatt has a wealth of experience (twice the fights I have) and has fought the best out there and beat some big names. He is very well rounded, dangerously skillful and tough as hell. I had intended on my next fight being at 165 with each consecutive fight being 5 pounds less until I reach 155 but if someone wants me bad enough who knows. As much as this fight interest me it is unlikely that I will fight out of state. It is not convenient for me with my family and career. I will entertain any offers made and give it consideration though. Kevin Gittemeier |

My prediction if this fight happens,
Chatt wins and adds another good W to his already impressive record and career. Or Chatt loses to me and skyrockets up the rankings. |

ohhhh the suspense.... Who is it? Shone Carter? I think Shonie v. Kevin would be an interesting match.

Everyone wants to fight Kevin , right now he is the guy to beat at 170 in the area. I have lots of names that "want" to fight him. But if want travel out of Atlanta, seems to me he doesnt want to fight. Chatt would be a good fight for him. But I quess aftrer the Cam fight , he wants to big of a check to dealn with driveing. Hell, if youll fight Chat, Ill pay the gas to get you there. CC will take care of your hotel. And there you go, done deal. CC takes care of its fighters. They host a great show. And if the only reason you dont want to fight Chatt is travel, I think they would probally work some thing out with you.... I hope Dana White never calls, Vegas, and Cali are a long way to travel, but oh hey, Id bet you'd do it then right?

From a business standpoint, why would Kevin travel to Huntsville to fight if he can fight the same person in Atlanta and make at least double, if not triple or quadruple what he would make there? Why don't you travel out of state to do your job for 1/3 to 1/2 the pay?

This is a much bigger name than Shonie Carter... This guy is big currently, but not locked in to a UFC contract at the moment.
As far as Kevin goes, it would be crazy for him to take his show on the road. Blake Grice says great things about CC which is good enough for me. The problem is this, Not only does Kevin command and receive a purse only equaled by Steve Headden in GA, he also sells an amazing amount of tickets which he will receive a nice commission on. Dana White calling is a very different thing, because a UFC fight is exposure that can't be bought. Just my opinion... |

Is there more to this than what has been posted on this thread? All I read was: Quote:
Seems like either something else has been said, or quite a bit is being "assumed". I am referring to the statements about wanting more money, the "Dana White call", Vegas, Cali, etc....wow! I mean, if there is some base to those statements, then fine; but based on what I have read in THIS THREAD, those comments are not warranted. All I heard was family and current career as the "potential" problem...not necessarily money. Just because someone may or may not want to travel, does NOT necessarily mean it is due to money. Plus, KG was also quick to point out that he would consider it, too even though it may be unlikely. |

Chatt is a small 170 lb.er, and Shonie fight at 185 or 205 from time to time.
Chatt and Kevin are similar in size and build.

Didn’t mean to offend you Mason.
Interesting you mention the UFC. This is a question I often get asked and unbelievable as it sounds yes I would pass on the UFC if they offered me their standard $2000. No way do I leave state for what is likely a tougher fight and make less money. The UFC can be a career builder for some but not likely me. I have a career and this is a hobby and no more. I am not young and I have many injuries. I do not and cannot train as hard as is necessary to compete at the top level. When I first got involved in this sport I never expected to do as well as I have and this success has been a big surprise. In most of my 11 fights I was the underdog but fortunately I was able to pull off a win most of the time. That good fortune may soon pass but the competitor in me will not. I compete because I enjoy it. Fortunately for me I can enjoy it in the convenience and comfort of my home state and be near my family. Mason I am not sure why this is difficult for you to understand. We have MANY great 170s in GA that are willing to travel to fight. Also I emailed twice Jay with CC explaining that I would consider it just make an offer. I am a little surprised by the tone of your post, are you even affiliated with Jay? |

Kevin,
Nope dont even know the guy. Just want to see you fight. As stupid as this sounds, I wasnt trying to disrespect you. I actually respect you alot. I have wached you fight most of your fights. Some I was on your side, others not, but hey thats the game right? I know I came off rather brash in my post. Actually, if you could have heard my tone, and not just saw my words. You would have understood my view alittle better. Your a talanted fighter. I give you nothing but props there. Ive watched you train. And I train at Knuckleup sometimes also. So your, technically, one of the guys I support. Keep up the good work, train hard, and Ill stop being the devils Avid. How about those Apples ehh? I quess it all comes down to this. Drive to Huntsville, and fight this fight, or dont. I just wanted to see you do your thing, with a fighter like Chatt. If I was out of line, well it happens. See ya on the mats. Mason |
